About George Washington Brown
George W. Brown, 85, a retired farmer of Maxey's Valley, near Moreland, died at his home there Saturday morning at 8:30 o'clock. He was a native of Russell county but had made his home at Maxey's Valley since 1926.
He was a member of the Church of God.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Alice Brown; four daughters, Mrs. Finley Griffin, Moreland, Route 1, Mrs. J.; R. Simpson and Mrs. L. B. Sapp, both of Lexington and Mrs. Robert Russell, Indianapolis, Ind.; eight sons, Aries, Estes, Arthur, Estel and Earl Brown, all of Moreland, Route 1, Forest Brown of Gravel Switch, Ezera Brown, Lancaster, and Orves Brown, Lexington,
One sister, Mrs. Nancy J. Popplewell, Hammond, Ind.; one brother, Francis Marion Brown, of Moreland Route 1, 25 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at the Maxey Valley Church of God, conducted by the Rev. Elmer Stevenson. Burial will be in the Maxey Valley cemetery. The body is at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland
