Documented on 1850 Census with Father, Hardy {whose AGE is stated Wrong and Proven in 2005 and again in 2007 by documentation} and Step-Mother, Elizabeth Tilley. Hardy L. is listed in the group of 'older children' as being born 1839 in Kentucky. Father, Hardy was on 1830 Census in Robertson County, TN. and in 1840 Hardy was in Calloway County, KY. Presumed with Birth listed as Kentucky that the family was in Calloway County before the 1840 Census.
Laclede County, Missouri Marriage Records show: Hardy L. Biggs married Elizabeth Smith on 9th October 1859 in Laclede County.
Missouri Military Records show Hardy L. Biggs joined Phelp's Regiment Missouir Volunteers for -6- months duty on 26 November 1861 at age 22.
On 19th of August 1862 Hardy L. Biggs joined the 8th Missouri Volunteer Cavarly, U.S.A., Co. "H." Two Brothers, David S. and Andrew Allen Biggs both joined the same Unit that same month. A Cousin, Hardy C. Biggs, son of William also served in the same Unit.
2 November 1863, Pvt. Hardy L. Biggs dies of "Brain Fever" at DeVall's Bluff, Arkansas Regimental Hospital. Buried on Post Grounds. Body later transferred to Little Rock, Arkansas National Cemetery and Marker then transcribed as: H L BRIGGS. Paper-work corrected in 2011 to reflect Correct Name. It is one in same.
It was hard to track this Hardy L. Biggs down. There are Four Hardy / Hardie Biggs born between 1814-1815 to 1870! Family information had been passed down Wrong for decades.
Hardy L. Biggs {1839} is a Brother to my Great-Grandfather, Andrew Allen Biggs {1834}.
As far as known, David S. Biggs {1843} and a Cousin, Hardy C. Biggs {1829}, son of William Biggs, do not have their Civil War Markers.
