- Boyd Family Journal, Devoted Mainly to Southern Boyd and Allied Families, No 3, December 1928, Willis M Boyd, Editor, p 74, says:-
"At this time I have been unable to go farther back than Archibald Boyd, who was born about 1747, but I do know that he had a brother, Walter Boyd, born in 1754, who did not come to America.
"Walter Boyd was a banker in London and Paris, and author of a number of pamphlets on financial matters, a member of Parliament from Shaftsbury, 1796-1802, also from Lymington, 1823-1830. He is mentioned in McMillian's Dictionary of Natioanl Biography, also in Hutchin's History of Dorest County, England. In Lockhart's life of Sir Walter Scott there is quite an extended account taken from Scott's diary of Walter Boyd's financial transactions in Paris. I have have several of his original lettes written from Paris, France in the years 1808-9 to his nephew, Col George Boyd, in Washington D. C. In one of them he speaks of his children: Annie borne in 1790; Eliza. born in 1792; Fannie born in 1798; Mary, born in 1801; Isabella, born in 1804; Robert, age not given; and Walter, born in 1794 died young.
