About Henry (Heinrich) Weinmann
Heinrich Weinmann was named after his mother's favorite poet, Heinrich Heine. The town of Braunsdorf (now Brumovice, South Moravia, Czech Republic) also called on his birth certificate the "Jewish Community of Misslitz, Moravia," which is now Miroslav, Moravy, Czechoslovakia. The fact that he belonged to a town in Czechoslovakia would be of enourmous importance later to Francie's father, Frank.
In about 1887 Henrich's family moved to the town of Eggenburg. Heinrich became a Second Lieutenant in the Austro-Hungarian Reserves at age 20. He came out of the Army in 1898.
In 1905 Heinrich brought his parents to Vienna, and supported them until their deaths. He is described as having the "Weinmann features," a good-size nose, deep-seated narrow eyes and bushy eyebrows.
