About Henry Higgins
Henry Higgins served in the Revolutionary War. What information I have on him is as follows from Genealogical Abstract of Revolutionary War Pension Files, Vol. II, F-M extracted by Virgil D. White. P. 1628. Higgins, Henry, R4982, SC line. Sol. Appl. 22 Oct 1840 Habersham Co. Ga, aged 86. He lived in York Dist. S.C at enl, Richland Dist. SC then to Greenville Dist. SC then to
Franklin Co. Ga then to Habersham Ga. A son, Reubin C. Higgins aged 62 made affidavit 5 May 1853 in Gilmer Co. Ga and stated soldier died November 1845 leaving a widow, Mary G who died 4 April 1846 and they had married 10 Dec. 1787. A John Higgins signed P.O.A. on December 1, 1852 in Habersham Co. Ga and a Henry Higgins and Lillian King were witness to his P. O.A. the said John was a son of the soldier Henry Higgins, but the relationship of the witness Henry Higgins wasn't stated. Another publication (Moss, Roster of South Carolina Patriots in the American Revolution, Genealogic ubl. Co. 1983) p. 444 reads as follows: Henry Higgins, 18 Aug. 1754 Prince William Co. Va. died 6 Nov. 1845. Married Mary ____, 10 Dec. 1787. While residing in the York Dist. he was drafted during 1776 under Capt. John Land, Maj. Philip Pearson and Co. Eli Kershaw. In 1781 he volunteered to serve under the same officers. During 1782 he was drafted and placed under Capt. Jacob Rumph and Col. Sumter for 4 months. (Moved to Georgia.) Hope this helps.
