Captain Hon. Ralph Frederick Vane was the son of Henry de Vere Vane, 9th Baron Barnard of Barnard's Castle and Lady Catherine Sarah Cecil. He was born on the 8th of June 1891 at Mayfair, City of Westminster, Greater London, England.
He married Kathleen Airini Mair, daughter of Captain Gilbert Mair and Eleanor Catherine Mair (Sperrey), on 5 June 1917 at Marylebone, London, England.
Vane died on 6 June 1928 at age 36, without issue at Henley-on-Thames, South Oxfordshire District, Oxfordshire, England. He was buried in the St Mary Churchyard, Staindrop, Durham Unitary Authority, County Durham, England.
