About Hon Judge Alonzo Chubb
Pioneer Families of Grand Traverse County, Michigan 5 September 1889 GRAND TRAVERSE HERALD SEPTEMBER 1889
WEXFORD The rains of last Thursday interfered some with the reunion at this place. yet all seemed to enjoy themselves very much. We cannot tell all about the proceedings, but the speaking on Wednesday afternoon by Messrs. Chubb of Cleon, Thurston of Sherman, and others. Could not help but leave a favorable impression. The evening was spent around a large camp fire, where a large crowd listened to an able address by C. S. Marr, and stories of sad experiences of the war days by old soldiers. Even the little folks seemed to enjoy the evening by occasionally throwing a dry goods box on the fire to help keep up a bright light, not seeming to realize the meaning of the occasion. Yet as years go by these reunions will leave an impression on the minds of the little folks that will cause them to study the reason for these gatherings and will have a tendency to make better citizens of them.
