About J. Peter Friesen
Funeral services for J. Peter Friesen, 87, who passed away July 4 at his Faribault home at 904 Central Ave. after a lingering illness, were held July 6 at 10 a.m. at the St. Lawrence Church with the Rev. Frederick Tschann officiating. The church choir sang for the services. Pallbearers were Robert and Richard Friesen, Potosi, Wis., Gerald and David Friesen, Owatonna; James Paquette and Thomas Friesen of Faribault. Interment was in the St. Lawrence cemetery. Mr. Friesen, son of John and Elizabeth Friesen, was born Jan. 10, 1880 to Potosi, Wis. where he lived until his marriage to Catherine Wagner Nov. 19, 1907 at Tennyson, Wis. In 1914 the couple left Potosi where Friesen had attended St. Andrews Parochial School, and moved to Faribault. He was a farmer and substitute mail carrier for many years and a member of the St. Lawrence parish. Mr. Friesen is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Aaron Paquette (Florence); five sons, Alphonse of Potosi, Henry, Edwin, Adolph and Donald of Faribault; 26 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Bieter and Mrs. Rose Pluemer of Faribault. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Frank, Jacob and William. Relatives and friends from away who attended the funeral were from Potosi, Wis.; Cuba City, Wis.; Burlington, Iowa; Detroit Lakes and surrounding communities.
