"Born about 1710 on his father's 600-acre estate, Henberry, in Kent County, Maryland, Hamilton was the last child born to Andrew Hamilton* and Anne Brown Hamilton; the elder Hamilton became one of Pennsylvania's most prominent colonial politicians. Although little is known about James Hamilton's childhood years, according to one source he accompanied his father on a trip to London from 1725 to 1727 possibly for his education. "
