James Matlock Kitchens Jr. was the son of James Matlock Kitchens Sr. and Sally Brown Kitchens. He was married to Mary Delilah Files Kitchens, whose Great Grandfather Capt. John Adam Files served with the South Carolina Militia during the Revolutionary War. James Matlock Kitchens Jr. served in the 22nd and 28th Alabama Infantries CSA and returned home to Jasper after the War Between the States.
