James J. Stover
Worked at General Electric Co. for 35 years
James J. Stover, 71, of Erie, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at Hamot Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 4, 1932, in Oil City, son of the late Warren Stover and Edith Fullerton Stover Caldwell.
He worked at General Electric Co. for 35 years.
He graduated from Academy High School in 1950.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He was a member of Berean Bible Church and enjoyed sports and working on his yard.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Bertha Sally Fullerton.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Janice L. Ruff Stover; a daughter, Shana Herget and her husband, Mike, of Lawrence Park Township; three sons, James E. Stover and his wife, Bonnie, of St. Marys, Gordon McMichael Stover and his wife, Debbie, of Cranesville and Mark C. Stover and his wife, Annette, of Erie; a sister, Betty Parker of Berea, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Dusckas Funeral Home East. A service will be held there Saturday at 10 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Brian Kelley of McLane Church.
Burial, with military honors by the U.S. Navy Reserve and the Erie Crawford County Veterans Burial Detail, will be at Lakeside Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family in care of Dusckas Funeral Home East, 2607 Buffalo Road, Erie, PA 16510.
