James A. Vomastic, age 61, of 456 Fairview Way, Shawano, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at his home.
He was born May 26, 1939, in Shawano, the son of Lydia (Kriewaldt) Vomastic and the late Arthur E. Vomastic. He lived in Shawano County all of his life and he farmed in the town of Waukechon. He served with the United States Army Reserve. He was a member and past elder of St. James Lutheran Church, Shawano. He was a member and past vice president of the Shawano County Agricultural Society, a member and past president of the Shawano Equity and served on their board of directors. He was past president and served on the board of directors for the Bonduel Shipping Association and served on the Waukechon town board. He was married on Nov. 25, 1967, to Sheryl Juedes in Shawano. He is survived by: his wife, Sheryl; four children, Kathleen M. (Glenn E.) Elertson, West Bend, James E. Vomastic, Shawano, Jay W. (Tanya) Vomastic, Shawano, Heidi K. (Joston) Cartwright, Clintonville; five grandchildren, Heather, Hailey and Collin Elertson, Courtney and Averi Vomastic; his mother, Lydia Vomastic, Shawano; two sisters, Betty Vomastic, Shawano, and Susan (Gene) Qualmann, Sun Prairie. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jerry Luepke.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, Shawano, with the Rev. William Otte and Vicar Jason Wolter officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Friends may call at Swedberg Funeral Home, Shawano, on Friday, Dec. 8, from 4 until 8:30 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church until the time of services.
