About James Frederick Walz
James F. Walz was a teacher and later a school superintendent. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.
His father was of German and Irish descent, and his mother was entirely of Swedish descent. Of his German ancestors, half hailed from Kuppenheim in Baden in southwestern Germany, where the Walz family is traced to the late 1600s. His great-grandfather Sebastian Walz was born in Kuppenheim, Germany and emigrated to the United States in 1864. A quarter of his German ancestors hailed from Schermbeck in northwestern Germany. His remaining German ancestors were German-speaking people from Dettwiller and Haegen in Alsace (now in France).
