"By the death of Mrs. Barron, which took place on the 23rd ulto., the colony lost the first white woman that ever stepped on the shores of Western Australia; the first possessor of a cow, and the first person that baked a loaf of bread, in the colony."

Death of an Old Colonist. On Saturday last another aged colonist, Mrs. Barron, passed away. The deceased arrived here in the transport Parmelia, and was, therefore, among the first settlers that stepped on the shores of West Australia

Jane is reported to be the 1st white woman to step ashore in the Swan River colony.
