Janie Brooks
ROSSVILLE — Janie Mae Coffelt Brooks, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009.
She was born in Chattanooga, on Nov. 12, 1919 to the late Townsend and Nellie Coffelt. She had lived in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas for most of her life and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 68 years, Allen B. Brooks, former Chief Magistrate of Catoosa County; brothers, Bill, Frank and Alfred Coffelt; and one sister, Ruth Talley.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Eula Nell and James Adams, of Rossville, and Marie Russell and (Richard Brock), of Fort Oglethorpe; six grandchildren, Sherry Adams, Kathy Roe, James Adams III, Dixie Box, Lebron and Marty Russell; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a special thanks to Sheila Anderson for her compassion and care.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with the Rev. David Carlock officiating.
Burial will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
The family will begin receiving friends after 4 p.m. today and prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
