Jens E. Poulsen, 85, a former Woodland resident, died May 16, 2001, in Woodburn, Ore. He was born Oct. 17, 1915 in Oberon, N.D.

Mr. Poulsen had been a Woodland resident from 1948 to 1965. He was a barber in Woodland.

He was a member of the American Legion, A.A.R.P. and United Methodist Church of Woodburn. He also enjoyed fishing, golf and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Lorna (Strand) Poulsen, of Woodburn; one son, John Poulsen of Woodburn; one daughter, JoAnn Peterson of Sammamish; two brothers, Pete Poulsen of Woodland and Marvin Poulsen of Kalama; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church of Woodburn. Private inurnment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Vancouver.

Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church of Woodburn, 950 N. Cascade Dr., Woodburn, OR 97071.

Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel of Woodburn is in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2001, in United Methodist Church in Woodburn for Jens E. Poulsen, who died May 16 at age 85.

Mr. Poulsen was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Oberon, N.D. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He lived in Woodland, Wash., where he owned a barber shop. In 1962, he retired and moved to Palm Desert, Calif. He moved to Woodburn in 1982. In 1939, he married Lorna E. Strand.

Survivors include his wife; son, John; daughter, JoAnn Peterson; brothers, Pete and Marvin; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
