John E. Gaston was a businessman and local politician. He worked for Tate, Eaton & Coffey and owned several automobile dealerships in Gainesville, Georgia and was well-known for his Field Trial Setters, that he bred. John Gaston was a candidate for U.S. Representative from Georgia 9th District, in 1922.
On December 3rd 1925, John Gaston died in Dallas, Texas at the age of 46 years, 8 months and 26 days old; while visiting his sister, Carolyn Gaston Howell. He is buried along side his parents, his paternal grandmother Martha A. Brittian and sister, Mamie Gaston Reed in Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, Georgia.
