John served in the Union Army during the Civil War. He was in the 12th Wisc. Infantry, Co. A. His rank was a private. part of the battle of Vicksburg, and Sherman's march to the see. 1877 moved to Rush River 1898 to Maiden Rock. 5 children Martin who died in Infancy Engle of Rush River, John of Whitehall and Charles of Bay City and Margaret of Maiden Rock. Was a part of the Lutheran Church.
