John Edward Rutledge, 75, of Moberly, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 5, 2014. John was born October 21, 1938 in Moberly, Missouri to Ralph Ray Rutledge and Helen Marie Nichols Rutledge. On September 17, 1967 he was united in marriage to Linda Carol Cable, his lifelong love, at the Clark Christian Church. He served in the United States Army from 1965-1967 where he was stationed in Texas and Turkey. He was an avid golfer and a member of NEMO Seniors Golf as well as serving on the Missouri State Bowling Board of Directors for many years. John coached his children's baseball and softball teams for many years. He was a member of the Central Christian Church where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday School classes and served as Chairman of the Board. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Preceding him in death are his parents, a brother, Richard Rutledge, and brother-in-law David Storm. He is survived by his wife Linda; children John M. Rutledge (Susan) of Fenton, Missouri, and Mendy J. O'Day (Ryan) of O'Fallon, Missouri; sister Judith Storm of Jasper, Georgia; brother Cecil Rutledge and wife Patricia of Ocala, Florida; grandchildren Rebekah Marie, Jackson Christian and Isabel Lynn Rutledge; Ryley Catherine, Patrick Thomas and Daniel Edward O'Day; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. A remembrance celebration of John's life will be held Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Pathway Memorial Funeral home at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow in the Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
