John Vaughan was born 06Jun1793 in Laurens Co., Sc., He and his older brother George Frankland and father William would make forays in and out of Franklin Co., Ga., and about 1800 the Vaughan's, McCrackens And Wofford families moved to Ga. mainly due to property given by the Cherokee Land Lottery in 1832. John was awarded property in Dist. 2, Sect. 04, Lot #0477. and moved his family to Cass Co., Ga. He was a soldier in the War of 1812 and his Revolutionary War pension file is E-10920.
