John Angus Wilson was born in 1879 in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Samuel N. Wilson and Margaret J. Stiteler Wilson. He grew up in Wayne Township, Armstrong County.

John Angus Wilson married Fanny McHenry about 1906. Angus and Fanny Wilson had two children: a daughter born July 3, 1909 and a son born December 30, 1915. Both children were stillborn.

They lived briefly in Butler County, PA., then settled in Perry Township, Jefferson County, PA. Angus was a dairy farmer and Jersey breeder in that area. He was an active member of the District Jersey Breeders Association and a participant at the Tri-County Jersey Shows.
