About Joseph Isaac Bluestone
Immigrated to the United States aboard the Victoria from London in 1878. Became a naturalized citizen Oct. 4 1888. Joseph practiced medicine and wrote poetry. He was also the founder of the New York chapter of the Lovers of Zion. Joseph believed that Zionism should serve a spiritual purpose and safeguard American Jewry against assimilation. He lived at various locations in the Lower East side. 169 Henry St. in 1898, 357 Grand St. in 1903, and 215 E. Broadway in 1907.
