British Royalty. Born May Helen Emma Cambridge, Princess von Teck the daughter of Sir Alexander Augustus Frederick William Alfred George Cambridge, 1st Earl of Athlone and Alice Augusta Pauline Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Princess of Albany at Claremont House in Surrey. In July 1917 her name was legally changed to May Helen Emma Cambridge. She married Colonel Sir Henry Abel Smith in October 1931 at St. Mary's Church, Balcombe, Sussex. The couple had three children. Between 1958 and 1966, she accompanied her husband, Sir Henry to Brisbane, where he served as the Governor of Queensland. She died at age 88 at Cromwell Hospital, London.
