Lawrence Cyril Mai Welch

Lawrence was the eldest child. Uncle Lawrie as he was known never married. His fiancée had died in the 1918 flu epidemic and he was faithful to her memory. He lived on a farm in Southern Rhodesia with his parents who had retired there from Queenstown. When they passed away they were buried on the farm and he stayed on alone. There was beautiful antique furniture in the farmhouse and there were very old books that had belonged to his father. There were also swarms of bees nesting in the windows and there was no town water. It was truly a farm from days gone by. Lawrence died around 1960.
