"LIBERTY MAN TO BE LAID TO REST
L. A. Gantt, Prominent And Retired Farmer, Dies At Home.
LIBERTY, Aug. 13 - (Special) - L. A. Gantt, retired farmer and one of the oldest citizens of this city died at his home here this morning, within a fortnight before his seventy-fifth birthday.
Mr. Gantt had been in declining health for the past several months, but the end came suddenly. He lived his entire life in the section of his birth. In 1872 he married Miss Sallie Kelly, of near Pickens. To this union were born 12 children; nine of whom, with his wife, survive: Mrs. Z. L. Chamblin, Mrs. J. C. Boggs, and C. L. Gantt, of Liberty; Mrs. L. A. Boggs, of Barbourville, Ky.; Mrs. R. C. Hubbard, of near Seneca; H. W. and T. M. Gantt of Greer; J. J. and W. L. Gantt, of Greenville. One sister also survives, Mrs. Sue Gantt Freeman, of Arkadelphia, Ala. A son, G. Ernest Gantt, was killed in action overseas, October 9, 1918.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist church, conducted by Rev. D. W. Hiott, of Easley, assisted by Rev. E. R. McClannahan, Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Interment will follow in West View cemetery.
The following will act as pallbearers: E. B. Richardson, J. H. Brown, W. S. Parsons, John Hunter, R. L. Welborn and John W. Gilstrap."
