About Leandro V. Locsin
- RA - registered architect
Locsin was known for his signature style known as the 'floating volume', his minimalist design, and his use of concrete. An avid collector with a fondness for Chinese ceramics, he and his wife published 'Oriental Ceramics Discovered in the Philippines' in 1967. In 1990, Philippine President Corazon Aquino proclaimed him a National Artist of the Philippines for Architecture. Among his most recognised works are the Cultural Center of the Philippines' Tanghalang Pambansa, the University of the Philippines Diliman's Church of the Holy Sacrifice, the Philippine International Convention Center, the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel, the Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1, the Philippine Stock Exchange Building, and the Istana Nurul Iman (official residence of the Sultan of Brunei).
