About Lieutenant Colonel Paddy Mayne, DSO & Three Bars
One of the principal members of the early SAS, he led the Special Raiding Service and was awarded the DSO four times, controversially missing out on a Victoria Cross.
He is named after his mother's cousin Robert Blair who also gained the DSO (and missed out on a VC), this time for bravery during the First World War.
