Lois B. Jordan Linder, 85, of Ankeny, peacefully passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 at home under the care of Iowa Hospice.

A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour with Frank Martin officiating. A Celebration of Life Service will be held that afternoon at 4:00 PM at the Penelope Apartments, 717 NE 5th St, Ankeny, Iowa.

Lois was born in Dunbar, Iowa, June 12, 1927 to Thelma (Merritt) and Kenneth Jordan. She grew up in the Montour area and graduated from 8th grade at Whiskey Bottom Country School. She graduated from Montour High School in 1944. In 1945, she was united in marriage to Cliff Frye and to this union was born four children, Gloria, Mary, Douglas and Deb. In 1976, she was united in marriage to Dar Linder. In 1990, Lois met the love of her life, Wilfred "Wick" Ray and they shared twenty-one years together.

She worked at the Montour Telephone office her junior and senior years and upon her graduation was a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell in Marshalltown. She was employed at the Iowa Veterans Home for 7 ½ years as supervisor of the Ceramic Department. She also owned and operated her own ceramic shop. She was co-owner of Sweet Treats Inc., a candy company in Ames. They were affiliated with Hallmark and distributed candy all over the United States.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Dar; three brothers, Warren, Robert and Joe Jordan; and her caring and loving companion, Wick Ray.

She is survived by her children and their families; Gloria (Mike) Gradisar of Colorado, Mary (Bill) Fribley of Ames and granddaughter, Jennifer (Brian) Hill and two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Abbie, Douglas Frye of Colorado, Deb Tjelta of Ankeny and grandson, Zachary; and one brother, Alan Jordan of Florida.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Feb 21 2024, 1:13:54 UTC
