About Lt. (CSA), William Clendenan McBride
Enlisted as a 2nd Lieutenant into Co H, 9th Louisiana Volunteer Infantry; Died from wounds received (severely wounded in leg, amputated) on 9 July 1864 at Battle of Monocacy (Frederick, Maryland). He participated in about a dozen battles during the Civil War including Antietam, Gettysburg and the Wilderness.
His parents were John McBride and Sarah Nolen of Fairfield, South Carolina.
In 1846 he married Mary Scott Youndblood in Hinds County, Mississippi. They had five children: Anna Elizabeth, John W., William Henry, Sarah Frances and Walter Asbury.
