Peter Pence Sr.: The DAR Patriot Index lists Peter on page 2085. He served as a private for the PA Militia. HIs father was John Pentz Bentz which is likely an error. One or the other is correct but probably not both. The family took the spelling "Pence" with Peter and kept it there after.
