Rites held for Mabel Fitzpatrick
Mabel Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, 80, Berthold, ND, died Monday, May 30, in a Minot Hospital. Memorial services were held on Thursday in the Newtown Gospel Tabernacle and Friday in the Senior Citizens Center at Berthold. Private interment was .to be held at a later time.
Rev, Warren Maxted, New Town and Rev. Russell Rhoads, Berthold, were the officiants for he services. Music was provided at the New Town service by Barry Johnson, soloist, and Joyce Hecker, pianist. Music at the Berthold service was provided by Larry and Karen Borud, vocalists and pianist.
The former Mabel Elizabeth Taylor was born on March 1908, in Niagara, ND, a daughter of George A. and Daisy Taylor. As a young girl she moved with her family to Berthold and graduated from Berthold High School.
On July 14, 1945, she married Joseph M. Fitzpatrick at Moses Lake, Washington. They lived at Van Hook, ND, until 1951, and then moved to New Town. He died on September 11, 1964, and she remained at New Town until returning to Berthold in 1987.
She was a member of the Senior Citizens of New Town and Berthold; and was a past president of that group at New Town. For many years she served on the Community Development Corporation Board at New Town. She also held membership in the American Legion Auxiliary there.
Surviving is one daughter Mary Case of Minot; two step daughters Colleen Foley of San Diego, CA, and Dorothy (Skip) Hill of Spring Valley, CA; step son Mike Fitzpatrick of Garden City, KS; 8 grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren; brother Al Taylor of San Jose, CA;. sister Vesta Schultz of Glen Ullin, ND; and a number of nieces and nephews.
