About Martha Mabel Shader
Daughter of Aldamar Phipps Elder and his wife, Mabel A. Gowdy. Mabel's mother died shortly after her birth. She grew up in Ottawa and attended Ottawa schools. She graduated from Ottawa High School and was a life-long Ottawa resident.
On Dec. 27, 1933, she married George Chester Shader. He died on Oct. 17, 1982. She was also preceded in death by a son, Roger Lee Shader; a daughter, Ida Carol Shader; two half-brothers, Pierre and Raymond Elder; a half-sister, Clara Dee Elder; and a half-brother, Brig. Gen. Glen Clifford Jamison.
Survivors include a son, three daughters, and nine grandchildren.
Mabel was a homemaker. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church, Ottawa. Her grandfather, Peter Percival Elder, was one of Ottawa's first residents and also lieutenant governor of Kansas.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Aug 21 2023, 8:33:07 UTC
