About Martin Andrew Axdahl
Services for Martin A. Axdahl were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 1986, at the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina, with the Rev. R.S. Roesler officiating. Pallbearers were Lee Axdahl, Don Burmakow, Randy Unrau, Randall Kuehl, Henry Van Heu-velen, and Larry Towe. "O Day Full of Grace" and "Lord of All Hopefulness" were sung by Fred and Betty Schuknecht with Gwen Arneson at the organ. The final resting place is Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa. The military graveside- services were conducted,by Russell West Post of the American Legion of Paullina, Iowa. The arrangements were under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.
OBITUARY
Martin Andrew Axdahl, son of Bert and Gertie Axdahl, was born March 25, 1925, in Paullina, O'Brien County, Iowa, He was baptized and confirmed in Siloam Lutheran Church and graduated from Paullina Public Schools in 1943.
He served his country during the Korean Conflict. On September 1, 1953,
Martin was united in marriage to Wanda Marie Roseland in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Wanda preceded him in death in September, 1976.
Martin farmed in the Paullina area for many years and retired in 1983. He made his home in Paullina until entering the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he passed away on November 14, 1986, reaching the age of 61 years, 7 months and 19 days.
Martin leaves to cherish his memory his sons: Dennis and Nickey, both of LeMars, Iowa; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Art (Marget) Kimblad of Paullina; two brothers: Gilbert of Paullina and Lester of St. Paul, Minnesota; and a host of other relatives and friends. Martin was preceded in death by his wife; parents and one brother, Bentley.
