ANSWERS LAST SUMMONSMrs. Mary Henning Passes Away Last Sunday at Family Residence — Was 80 Years Old Mrs. Mary Henning, long a resident of Lompoc, died at her home Sunday morning after a brief illness.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the family home interment being made in Evergreen cemetery the Rev. F. M. Clark of the Methodist Church officiating.
Mrs. Henning was born in Iowa, February 24, 1838. In 1852 she moved to Santa Clara valley near the place then called Millikin's corners which was so named in honor of her father. There she grew to womanhood. In 1867 she was married to John S. Henning. They made Santo Clara their home until 1877 when they moved to Lompoc where they passed the remainder of their days. To this union eight children were born, seven of whom are living. She also leaves two brothers, Thomas Benton Millikin and James Millikin, and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Sammons. There are sixteen grandchildren.
Her husband, J.S. Henning, died in May, 1914 and a daughter, Mrs. S.F. Dimock died in October, 1916. The children who survive her are J.M., A.B., and C.W. Henning, Mrs. Susan Van Clief, Miss Bertha Henning, Mrs. Emma Adams and Mrs. Charlotte Negus.
Mrs. Henning was a woman of sterling worth and nothing but praise is heard of this kind and womanly woman who has gone to her last resting place and the bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community in their hour of sorrow.
