From the Courier-Mail, Brisbane, Sat 20 Feb 1954: "On the 14th February 1954 at the residence of Dr L.J. Wienholt, Canberra, Mary Margeurite, relict of the late John Daniel Wienholt, formerly of Brisbane. Interment, Cleveland Cemetery, 18th February 1954."
In 1913 Mary Marguerite WIENHOLT (nee POWELL) purchased what is now known as Hanworth House, in Lytton Road, Brisbane. She turned it into a home for elderly and impoverished women and named it 'The Hospice'. Part of the house, a wing she added in 1918, is today called the Wienholt Wing in memory of her philanthropic accomplishment.
