About Maynard Eugene Hakes
Maynard E. Hakes, 68 of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, WI. He was born February 11, 1947 in Black River Falls, WI, the son of Harold and Florence (Rogstad) Hakes. He was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran serving from 1965 until 1968, in the 90th Tach and 64th fighter squadron. He married Mary Bailey on June 21, 1969 in Reedsburg, WI. She predeceased him on August 15, 2005. Maynard was employed by General Motors as a repairman. Maynard was a farmer for Newark Valley Farms for many years, and he was always happiest on his tractor. He was an all around handyman, loved being outside, enjoyed hunting, trout fishing, and gardening. Survivors include his children, Kathryn Hakes, Andrew (Kathy Lynch) Hakes, and David Hakes all of Beloit, WI; his twin sister Marilyn Hakes of Afton, WI; brothers, Eldon Hakes of York, WI, and Harland Hakes of Osseo, WI; special friend Donna Coulthard of Janesville, WI; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, and step-father, Floyd Tews. The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses in the ICU at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center.
