About Nathan (Nohim Levi) Bergman
Fled Czarist Russia at the beginning of the 20th century and joined his brother in Buffalo, New York. His wife, Molly, died from cancer at an early age, leaving Nathan to raise three daughters whom he loved deeply. He was able to provide for his children by painting houses throughout the Depression and continued to work until retirement. He shared his home with his daughter, Anne, and son-in-law, Leonard who was a refugee from Munich.
Nathan was a firm believer in labor unions and workers rights. He constantly kept abreast of the news by daily reading the Jewish Forward in Yiddish.
Throughout his life, Nathan enjoyed walking a lot - which he did very briskly. In the winters, he fled the cold of Buffalo for the warmth of Miami where he died of heart attack in 1965 on the beach by his hotel.
