About Niki Lauda
Lauda, Andreas Nikolaus (Niki), b. Vienna, Feb. 22, 1949, racing driver, pilot and entrepreneur;
Formula One driver and a three-time F1 World Drivers' Champion, winning in 1975, 1977 and 1984.
Grandson of Hans Lauda.
From 1971 in Formula I, 1975 Formula I world champion (Ferrari); serious accident Aug. 1, 1976 on the Nürburg Ring, but returned to racing again 30 days later; 1977 again Formula I world champion (Ferrari). 1979 retired from Formula I racing and founded Lauda Air; 1981 returned to racing, 1984 won his 3rd Formula I world championship (McLaren). Altogether 25 Grand-Prix victories. Finally retired from motor racing in 1985,
1992-1997 Ferrari consultant, exclusively with Lauda Air until 2000, 2001 racing manager for Jaguar, since 2012 verbonden als voorzitter van het Mercedes F1 team.
Lauda is ook actief als gastcommentator bij Formule 1-races voor de Duitse televisie. RTL
