1880 - US Census, Saluda, Greenville Co, SC; Roll: T9_1231; Family Histo ry Film: 1255231; Page: 349.2000; Enumeration District: 94, shows: Willi am Taylor 18, Lucinda Taylor 50 (mother). Notes: Both show they were bo rn in SC. In the same house, shown as a separate family is: Dock Noah 25, Louisa 20 (wife), John 2 (son), Victoria 9 mos. This is probably Pet er Frank Noe (sometimes pronounced Noah) and his wife Eliza Taylor Noe, daughter of Lucinda. Dock shows he and his parents were born in TN. All ot hers show they and their parents were born in SC. The Noe brothers were careful about their names and whereabouts for several years after an incident that occurred after the end of the War of Northern Aggression where so me Union soldiers, who ambushed the Noe brothers on their way home, were killed. The Noe brothers then went to SC. Two stayed (Peter Frank and Dan iel Houston) and married Taylor sisters.
