About Prince Bechir Chehab, 3
On October 14, 1840, Bashir II surrendered to the British and went into exile. Bashir Shihab III was then appointed. On January 13, 1842, the Ottoman sultan deposed Bashir III and appointed Omar Pasha as governor of Mount Lebanon.
