About Pvt Michael Bright
War of 1812 s/o Peter Bright married Barbara Miller They had ten children. George M. Rosina Lerch and moved to Pottsville where he conducted an extensive hardware store-five children- Joseph C./Emily E./Anna M./George L./Wm. H; Reuben who was drowned from a vessel; Sarah m. James Algaier; Levi captured in Mexico; Peter; Anna Eliza m. Reuben Goodhart and had children Fredrick/Reuben B./Alice and Charlotte; Francis who died at Hazelton: William who moved to Tamaqua; Maria m. Joseph McDonnell and had children Ellen/Catharine/Daniel; and Miller who moved to Tamaqua. Michael was unfortunate in business and made an assignment for the benefit of creditors. During the latter part of his life he and his wife kept a noted resort on the south side of Penn Street, below third, where meat and cakes were dispensed to the public. Many of the elderly residents will recall with pleasure their visit to the little white cabin which required an accent of eight or ten steps to reach from Penn Street.
