About Pvt Raymond Francis Perry

Raymond was born in 1919. He was the son of Frank Perry. He passed away in 1998. On March 15,1919, Raymond was living with his parents, Frank and Adelina at 162 Powell Street, Lowell, Massachusetts. In 1920, Raymond lived with his parents at 70 D Street, Lowell, Massachusetts. They both worked in a cotton mill; Lena as a framer, and Frank was a doffer. A doffer removes empty spindles or bobbins from machines in a textile factory and replaces them with new ones. In 1921, Raymond's sister, Beatrice "Betty" Perry (Danner), was born in Massachusetts. Sometime between 1921 and 1925, the family relocated to Kings County, San Joaquin Valley, California, with other family members. In 1925, Ray's second sister, Katherine, was born in California. In 1930, Raymond, his parents, and 2 sisters were living on Jessie Avenue, Hanford, Kings County, California. From 1935 to 1940, Raymond, age 21 and single, his parents and two sisters, Beatrice Ann and Katherine lived at 513 East Eleventh Street in Hanford, Kings County, California. Ray was an attendant at a gasoline service station. On April 25, 1941, Raymond enlisted in the United States Navy as a private. His term of enlistment being three years. The record lists him as married. The Fresno Bee, December 4, 1945, Page 11, printed the return of United States Navy soldiers to Seattle, Washington, on November 29, 1945; among those listed was Corporal Raymond F. Perry of Hanford.[1] On January 22, 1949, Ray and Mária's only child, Stephen Ray Perry, was born in Hanford, Kings, California. He is the 3rd generation Perry (Pereira) born in the United States.[2] Subsequently, Ray and Mária divorced, and Mária remarried Marvin G. Rottman.
