Born in London, Regé-Jean Page spent his childhood in Harare, Zimbabwe, moving back to England as a teenager. The youngest of four children, his mother was a nurse from Zimbabwe and his father an English preacher. As a teenager, Page was in a punk band, dyeing his hair purple, and moved into acting when he joined the National Youth Theatre.

He went on to study at Drama Centre London, graduating in 2013. Page appeared on the stage in London in The History Boys and The Merchant of Venice and starred in the final season of the British TV series Waterloo Road in 2015.

He made his U.S. debut in the following year, playing Chicken George in the History Channel remake of Roots. In 2017, Page starred in Shonda Rhimes‘ legal series For the People. It was canceled after two seasons in 2019. That same year he was cast in the lead role of Simon Basset in Rhimes’ period drama Bridgerton, which debuted on Netflix in December 2020.
