More on Michael Ziegler: Born c. 1684, most likely the Palatinate, possibly Heidelberg or Mannheim, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. Michael Ziegler's name appears on a list preserved in the British Museum Library, London, "A list of all the poor Germans lately come over from the Palatinate into this kingdom taken in St. Catharine's (Parish, East of the Tower of London) the sixth May, 1709", Michael Ziegler, 25 years old, single, cloth and linen weaver, along with John Bien, 24. Also on the list of immigrants arriving from Rotterdam are "Husbandmen and Vinedressers" Andrew Schrager, 53, with wife and daughters, 20 and 23, Gerhard Clemens (also a linen weaver), 28, with wife and sons, 1-1/2 and 5, Henry Kolb, 30, Arnold Kolb, 22, and Mark Oberholtzer, 45 (d. Coventry twp.). It is thought Michael may have sailed on the ship "Guy". He married Catherine Schrauger in Germantown in 1710. In a deed witnessed by Francis Daniel Pastorius, Michael purchased 100 acres of land on 14 Feb. 1717 (the "Twelfth Month", Julian Calendar) from David Powell for 25 pounds "Silver Money of America", bordered by Bebber's Township line and the property of Hans George Reiff. Wayne David Detwiler.
