"Thomas Hardy, born Edinburgh, Dec. 1823, eldest son of Thomas H. of Charlesfield, F.R.C.S., and Robina, daugh. of Robert Forrester, Treasurer of the Bank of Scotland ; educated at High School and Univs. of Edinburgh and Aberdeen ; tutor in the family of Sir Robert Abercromby of Forglen, Bart. ; student missionary in the East Parish, Aberdeen ; licen. by Presb. of Aberdeen ; assistant at Dunoon [Kilmun] ; ord. to Wishaw 15th May 1851 ; pres. by the Hon. Mrs Moray Stirling of Abercairney ; trans, and adm. 23rd Jan. 1852; D.D. (Aberdeen 1902) ; died 1st Sept. 1910. He marr. 10th March 1858, Helen Isabella (died 24th April 1900), third daugh. of William Liston, min. of Redgorton, and had issue —
