The will of Richard Westbrooks WILL OF RICHARD WESTBROOK
written: 22 Oct 1832
proved: 30 Sept. 1833
In the name of God, Amen. I, RICHARD WESTBROOK of Cooper County, in the
State of Missouri, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory
and understanding, considering the certainty of death, and the uncertainty
of
the time thereof, and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs, and
thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God
to call me hence, do therefore make and publish this my last will and
testament in manner and from following, that is to say,
First and principally, I commit my soul into the hands of almighty God, and
my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors
here in after named, and after my debts and funeral charges are paid, I
devise and bequeath as follows, I give and bequeath unto
JOSEPH WESTBROOK, my son of Cooper County the sum of five dollars; I also
give and bequeath unto
SARAH FARIAS, my daughter, of Cooper County the sum of five dollars; I also
give and bequeath unto
DEBORAH HENRY, my daughter, of Cooper County, the sum of five dollars; I
give
and bequeath unto
ERI MORLEY, my son-in-law, of Cooper County the sum of five dollars; I also
give and bequeath unto
POLLY CALDWELL, my daughter, of Cooper County the sum of five dollars; I also
give and bequeath unto
WILLIAM WESTBROOK my son of Cooper County the sum of five dollars; I also
give and bequeath unto
LYDIA PROCTOR, my daughter of Jackson County the sum of five dollars; I also
give and bequeath unto
MODEST FAIRAS, my daughter of Cooper County the sum of five dollars; I also
give and bequeath unto
MARGARET FAIRAS, my daughter of Cooper County the sum of give dollars; I also
give and devise unto
LYDIA WESTBROOK my wife my plantation, my lands and tenaments and with it all
my personal property during her natural life or her being my widow, in case
she, the said LYDIA shall marry, I give and bequeath unto her one horse worth
fifty dollars and two cows and calves. I give and bequeath unto WILLIAM
WESTBROOK my son my waggon and cart and my farming utentials vc. And lastly
I do appoint JOSEPH WESTBROOK and WILLIAM WESTBROOK to be my sole Executors
of this my last will and testament revoking and annuling all frmer wills by
me here to fore made, ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my
last Will and Testament, in testimony whereof I have here unto set my hand
and affix my seal this twenty second day of October in the year of our Lord
eighteen hundred and thirty two.
