Samuel J Middaugh was born in Brown County IL, April 1, 1859. He came to Henry Co, MO in 1882. On March 25, 1881 he married Miss Sarah I Payton at Hannibal, MO. Other than two years spent in Nebraska, they lived in Henry County near Uneeda in Marshall Creak area. Their children were Arthur Sylvester, 1883; Laura Ellen Fowler, 1886; Maye Belle Garrison Buckley, 1888; Sanuel Everett, 1890; Corby Spencer (Cob), 1892; Lester (Bro), 1894; infant son, 1901; twins, Otis and Otto, 1902. It was said of Samuel, at his death, that he was an honorable and upright man who always took an active part in local civic enterprises, and set an example of industry, sheer grit and perseverance.
