At 20 years old, Samuel arrived NSW 13 May 1857 on the "Plantagenet" with older brother William age 35, William's wife Mary 34 and their 5 children Mary Ann 10, Hannah 9, Betsy 6, George 3 & James 10 weeks was born during the voyage. The passenger list describes Samuel as from Somersetshire, C of E religion, and that he can read and write.
