About Sarah M. Collins
This Sarah Anderson is NOT Sarah Anderson 1784-1859 daughter of James Anderson and Agnes Craig ( Sarah "Sallie" Orr ).
Here are some breadcrumbs; I hope they help. - rcb ( Robert Craig Bliss )
Re: Isaac Anderson, born 1785 in North Carolina Rain_Lily (View posts) Posted: 7 Nov 2008 1:19AM GMT Classification: Query Surnames: Anderson I believe this Isaac Anderson is my gr gr gr grandfather's brother. My gr gr gr grandfather was Asa Anderson who was born in 1788 in GA. Their father's name was James Anderson of NC according to Isaac's Bible and James died 4 Apr 1822. We don't know his date of birth or the place where he died. Asa and Isaac and their sister Sarah Anderson Collins moved to MS. Asa and his wife Elizabeth were married in GA and their son Jonathan Anse Anderson was born in GA 1816. In 1817/18 their son James Acey Anderson was born in MS, so we have some idea when Asa's family moved to MS. Isaac moved to MS before the 1810 MS Census was taken and lived in Covington County. Later, the part of Covington Co. they lived in was made part of Jones County.
If you will send me an email with your email address, I will send you an invitation to the Anderson Family site. These Andersons are descendants of James Anderson of NC with the exception of one or two that descended from Andersons that lived before James Anderson. My email is sakelly @ gvtc.com and I hope to hear from you. Susan

STACY COLLINS was born on 18 October 1786(9) near Spartanburg, South Carolina. It is said that his father and uncles served with General Marion, "the Old Swamp Fox," during the Revolutionary War. We have no indication of the ancestry of Stacy Collins but know he had a sister Betsy Collins who married Bennett Blackman. Betsy and Bennett were listed in the 1820 and 1830 Census as living in Pearl River County, Mississippi.
Stacy married Sary (Sarah) Anderson about 1807 in Georgia. Sary was born 29. August 1792.(9) Stacy was Sarah's second husband. She married, first, a "Gibson" who was killed a month after their marriage by being thrown from a horse. Sarah's brother Jonathan (Asa or Anse) Anderson married Betsy Welch, the daughter of Bryant Welch and sister of Cynthia Welch who married Allen Valentine (see Welch and Valentine).
Sary was married to Stacy Collins. They had 14 children. They lived in Jones Co. Mississippi and then in about 1852 moved to Hardin County, Texas.

There are DNA tests for Collins descendants. Will look for connections,
James Anderson is a common name. James d. 1822 is the father of Isaac b. 1785 NC, Asa b. 1788 GA and Sarah b. 1792 GA. Some years ago descendants of James and these children used a connection with Agnes Craig to establish membership in the DAR. For a time, this was recognized by the DAR. Then after further research, the DAR canceled the memberships based on Agnes Craig being James' wife, and the mother of Isaac, Asa, and Sarah. The Agnes Craig wife is in many family trees as the wife of James d. 1822, but based on the DAR decision, that is in error.
