About Sarah McFadyen Scott
GEDCOM Note
"When Aunty Mary (Muir) came to Australia to visit in about 1979 she brought with her the Masonic ring that had belonged to her father (John Muir) and the masonic ring that had belonged to her grandfather, John Mullin. She gave John Mullin's to her son, Peter Muir, and John Muir's to her brother Angus (my father). After she returned to Scotland her apartment was burgled and all her jewellery stolen …. the only things that survived were the 2 rings she'd brought to Australia (and whatever she was wearing at the time). Before I went to Scotland in about 1990, my father gave me the ring and said "I think your grandfather would want you to have this." I put it on and have worn it almost everyday since. I took it back to Scotland with me and also to New Zealand where I photographed it on the grave of my uncle, John Mullin Muir. It contains a plaited lock of hair from Sarah McFadyen, my grandmother, Mimma's, mother …. odd that my grandfather would have his mother-in-law's hair inside his ring rather than hair from his own mother … but that's what I've always been told." Roberta Muir, 2013
GEDCOM Note
Father allegedly Agnew Scott, although uncertain whether he gave her his name (not listed on birth certificate) - alternatively listed with McFadyen as surname and as middle name - marriage certificate to John Mullen shows surname as Scott
